The Boston Modern Quilt Guild has put together a project to make some quilts for those personally affected by the bombs at the Boston Marathon. They are asking for blocks and/or fabric donations to be mailed directly to them by May 24. If you are want to participate in this project, all the information is on this post here and that post also contains the mailing address for any blocks you wish to send.
The To Boston with Love flag project information is on the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild post here. As mentioned in our last post, if you want to make a flag, bring it to the EMQG May meeting and we can join them and send them all together.
The Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild has started a project – To Boston with Love – intended to bring peace and love from far and wide to the people of Boston. Their plan is to make flags to be hung as banners in the City of Boston that will convey that message.
VMQG has invited other modern guilds to help. I am going to make and send a flag. If anyone else wants to make a flag for the project – which is totally optional – bring it to our May meeting. We can join the flags together at the meeting and then I can send them to the organizers.
The details and tutorial is on the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild blog- click here. You can see other flags that have been made, and post the one you make if you like here on flickr.
Here is the front and back of the flag I made today:
Just a reminder to come out for our regular monthly meeting at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 10 at Quilters Dream North – 10736 – 124 Street, Edmonton. New members and visitors are welcome, the back door is open about 6:45 pm and meetings and guild membership have no charges.
This month we have a postcard swap, inspired by spring flowers – especially tulips, bring a postcard and take home another. A postcard is about 4″ x 6″
Also, bring your name tags and any of your quilting for show and tell.
Hope to see you at the meeting. The pictures were all taken from our show and tell and pincushion swap at March’s meeting.
